Conditions of carriage

GorranBus

General conduct

We strive to encourage people to use public transport as an effective, pleasant and environmentally responsible way to travel. In accordance with this aim we apply the following to passengers as conditions of carriage.

We ask that when you use our bus, you show consideration to other passengers and to our volunteer drivers. If you do not follow these points, you may be asked to leave our vehicle or be refused travel. You will not be entitled to a refund or alternative travel. We rarely have cause to do this; please help us keep it this way.

  • If waiting at a bus stop, please indicate clearly to the driver that you wish to use the bus in time so that they can safely stop.
  • You should not attempt to get on or off the bus anywhere other than when directed by the driver.
  • The capacity of the bus is at the discretion of the driver and may not exceed 14 seated passengers.
  • You should remain seated at all times except when entering or leaving the bus.
  • You must wear a seat belt at all times while seated.
  • You must not distract the driver whilst the vehicle is in motion.
  • You may be asked to leave our vehicle at any time if you are or are believed to be :-
    • smoking any substance or an electronic cigarette.
    • interfering with any equipment on or as part of the vehicle.
    • interfering with or threatening or being abusive to a driver or other person travelling on the vehicle.
    • causing a public nuisance.
  • If you’re listening to music, or using an audible device, please use headphones at all times. You shouldn’t be expected to listen to music or other broadcast media that is not of your choice.
  • If you board with a buggy or pram, to the extent that it is possible for you to do so, you should fold and store it in a luggage space.

We reserve the right to take any appropriate measure to ensure that our passengers can travel in comfort and safety, and our drivers can work without fear of abuse or intimidation.

Fares and tickets

Passengers must be in possession of a valid ticket or pass throughout their journey. We accept cash, contactless payment and English National Concessionary Passes on board our buses.

Adult fares are issued to all passengers aged 16 or over, unless in education and can present a valid NUS Card or other appropriate ID. Children aged under 5 travel free with anybody who purchases an adult ticket or has a valid adult-rate pass (including English National Concessionary Passes).

Wheelchair users

Our bus can accommodate one wheelchair user. We are able to carry most wheelchairs and electric wheelchairs but require a minimum of 48 hrs prior notification, as we need to remove and store seats to provide room. This facility is dependent upon the space being available. It is the responsibility of GorranBus to prepare the vehicle to accept a wheelchair upon notification but this does not include getting the wheelchair or the user on board. The wheelchair will need to be loaded and unloaded by means of a ramp so the wheelchair user will need an able bodied assistant.

Mobility scooters are not carried.

Carriage of animals

Pets are carried free, so long as they do not present a hazard or disturbance to customers. If another animal is already on board then the driver may refuse travel (excluding guide dogs or assistance dogs). Guide dogs in training are also permitted, subject to the driver’s discretion. All dogs must be on a lead and should sit on the floor (but not blocking the aisle).

Bicycles

We do not permit standard bicycles on board our vehicle. Folded bicycles are allowed so long as they do not present a risk to other passengers, their property or our vehicle. They must be able to fit in our luggage bin.

Food, drink and alcohol

Please don’t bring food onto our vehicle, as it can be unpleasant for fellow passengers and leave spills. If you bring a drink on board please make sure that it has a spill-resistant lid as drivers may otherwise refuse entry. The consumption of alcohol is not allowed aboard our vehicles; customers will be asked to leave the vehicle if their behaviour becomes aggressive, loud or generally unpleasant to other customers or our driver.

Luggage

All luggage is carried at the owner’s risk and at the driver’s discretion. It must be of a size to fit in our luggage bin.

Lost property

If you think you’ve left something on one of our buses, please contact us with details of the lost item, the date of travel and other journey details. We’ll do our best to help find it for you. However we cannot accept responsibility for passengers’ personal possessions.

Timetable

GorranBus reserves the right to alter, suspend or withdraw any service without notice. Advance notice will, however, be given when possible.
The publication of any timetable or notice is issued for guidance, and no guarantee can be given that vehicles will operate at the times stated, or at all.
